Yesterday on 3-5-2025 My uncle David passed away from his battle with cancer.
You may remember some years ago when I created a GoFundMe for him when he just learned about his diagnosis. The cancer was suppose to be a slow growing cancer, and with proper treatment was never meant to grow into a terminal diagnosis.
At the time he and his wife grabbed the news by the balls (so to speak) and began attacking it with a vengeance, doing the recommended treatments which were VERY expensive.
David had his time of pain and suffering, but for the most part lead a pretty normal life.
David lost his wife due to Corona Virus during the Pandemic. But none-the-less he kept working full time and pushing forward all while continuing his treatments for the cancer.
Unfortunately the cancer did grow, and spread. David was a fighter, and refused to give up. Despite going into sudden cardiac arrest twice while at the hospital just a few weeks ago, he never lost his will to live and his will to fight. David made the hard choice to try chemotherapy, despite the doctor’s reccomendations against it, and ultimately he did not survive.

David who online went by the username “Big Haus Dave” (never really got the story on that one) always had big dreams and ambitions. He was always talking about the next big thing. It was his dream to start an auction website to compete with eBay. He spent thousands of dollars trying to launch the site, and get it off the ground. Unfortunately he didn’t always have the best company in his journey, and the first website did not take off despite the investment.
I helped him relaunch the site in 2023, and we also together envisioned an idea of an even bigger and better auction like website. We did soft launch both of those sites, but lack of funds and time prevented us from getting these sites off the ground.
Today, both sites are completely offline because in order to legally run such a site you are required to have an auctioneers license (Which he did have. But I do not have said license however).
Anytime I hear of someone passing, my first question is what happened. I have never understood why people are so secretive about this topic, and why they go to great lengths to not talk about it. Personally, thats the first thing I want to know… So I felt sharing a little bit of the back story was necessary.
Although I cannot say I was super close to David, We did occasionally go places and hang out. One thing he enjoyed doing was going to Tennessee to “The Pottery Barn” to buy flowers. He would make the big extravagant bouquets for his wife’s gravesite. We went over there a few times in my Tesla, because we did the trip for almost free.
Take five minuets to sit and talk with David, and he would always start on some dream of plan of his. He frequently talked about going on vacation or wanting to buy, make, or create something. It was his dream to take his youngest granddaughter to Disney World so she would have something to remember him by. Unfortunately he did not get to take that trip.
David joined his Dad who also passed at 55 back on March 4th 1996 due to a tree cutting accident. They both passed one day apart, years later.
Gone but not forgotten at a young age of 53.
